Learning burnout is real. Many professionals chase skills without enjoying the process. The result? Exhaustion, Frustration and, stalled growth.

Ekalavya Rediscovers the Joy of Learning

Ekalavya was a rising star in his company. He loved learning, exploring new ideas, and sharing knowledge with his peers. His curiosity earned him recognition and leadership opportunities.

But success came with pressure. The flood of new skills and responsibilities left him drained. Learning felt like a chore and no more source of energy.

Fortunately, his observant boss also noticed his struggle. During the discussion it became evident that Ekalavya was having a learning burnout and did not enjoy learning as he did before. He confessed, “I feel I have to learn everything. There is so much to know and I cant grasp it all. It worries me.”

His struggles revealed a pattern many face:

  • Fear of losing relevance instead joy of learning
  • Chasing quantity over quality, breadth without depth
  • No time for reflection and assimilation
  • Little application or sharing knowledge

Ekalavya shifted his approach. He stopped chasing trends and focused on meaningful learning. He accepted that the unknown will always be greater than the known. Ekalavya chose depth over breadth. Slowly, learning became effective again. He regained clarity, confidence, and joy.

In fast changing world, staying relevant matters. But intentional learning matters more. Choosing what and why to learn builds persistence and focus.

For your reflection

  • What drives your learning today – fear or curiosity?
  • What can you do to make your learning more meaningful and deep?

“The joy of learning is as indispensable in study as breathing is in running.”Simone Weil
