Questioning
You were rewarded for giving the right answers. Hardly were you incentivized to frame the right questions. Rarely were you credited for finding answers to your own questions. But life has always incentivized those who questioned and tried to find the answers to their questions. The incentive is the enriching experience you gain when you wonder, question, think, and seek. The journey of inquiry leads to personal transformation
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.” – Albert Einstein
The joy of running
As a kid, you started to run for fun. You began testing your threshold. Then everyone around you started going for a race, so you joined them. Eventually, medals, podiums, and timings take priority. You realized running was no longer fun. Until one day, some crazy people asked you to join them for a run just for fun on an off-beat trail, where there are no timings and podiums. There you rediscovered the joy of running is in running itself.
“I run because it’s my meditation, my relaxation, my way of finding peace and staying fit.” – Joan Benoit Samuelson
Post-vacation stress
Returning to work after a vacation can be stressful. You may be struggling to catch up with everything that has happened in your absence and feel stressed and distracted. Part of the stress could be of your own making because of:
1) Your need to gain control and stay on top of things from the minute you resume work
2) Your inability to accept that you are catching up and your unwillingness to seek support from people around
Vacation is meant to slow you down. It helps when you set low expectations, have grace time to resume pace, and see the bright side that work has not stalled in your absence.
“Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax.” – Mark Black
