Reminder of Superpower | Defining Success | Futility of being dead serious

Reminder of Superpower

Superpowers are not lost. They are forgotten or taken for granted. The best way to develop superpowers in others is to remind them about it. If you are a person of credibility or someone in authority remind others of their superpower and they will start seeing it again in themselves.

Kalpana Chawla to José Hernández: “Do you know how important it is that someone like you or I jump on this ride? I, too, had to work so hard. Tenacity is a superpower.” -Million Miles Away, a biopic of José Hernández, a Mexican-American farmworker-turned-astronaut.

Defining Success

At times, our definition of success and failure may be incorrect. Defining success based on outcome or destination adds a lot of stress. This Diwali, my mentor shared ‘golden’ advice that helped in redefining success.

Success is in giving your best effort, and in putting your intentions, abilities, and character. Success is in doing your best while being on your journey.

Futility of being dead serious

There are times when we do not realize how serious we have become about everything around us. It dawned on me when I started interacting with a child. It took a while for my inner child to come out and have a fun-filled conversation.

I realized we don’t have to be dead serious about everything to make an impact in this world. For Mahatma Gandhi, it was his sense of humor that enabled him to withstand a long tough journey of India’s freedom struggle.

“If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide.” – Mahatma Gandhi
