Speaking well | Perceiving beauty| Quit at the peak

Speaking well

Speaking well is an art. You speak well when:

  • You pause at the right moment to allow others to understand
  • You align your message with appropriate tone and energy
  • You make an effort to convey your message in a way that listeners can easily assimilate

Speaking well requires clarity, awareness, and effort. Good speakers are empathetic to their listeners.

“Speak clearly, if you speak at all; carve every word before you let it fall.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

Perceiving beauty

When you notice and appreciate something as beautiful, it indicates that you have connected with its core energy. What appears beautiful is something that exhibits greater presence, aliveness, vividness or sharpness. To perceive beauty is to perceive energy. Your ability to perceive beauty can make life truly worthwhile, filling you with contentment. This depth of perception allows you to notice the unseen and value the unappreciated.

“The human perception of energy first begins with a heightened sensitivity to beauty.” – James Redfield

Quit at the peak

One of my mentors shared his career mantra: Always chose to leave an organization or a team when you feel you have reached your peak. Being at the peak means you are now focussed on preserving the success you have created. You have mastered managing the system and securing favorable outcomes. Yet, this is also the starting point of plateau. Quitting at your quit at your peak allows you to retain your good reputation and goodwill. In a new place, you are less desperate to prove yourself, enabling you to focus on the right actions. Choosing when to quit is a strategic career decision.

“Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.” – John D. Rockefeller
